Minor professional hockey leagues are the backbone of the NHL. These leagues over the years have served as training grounds for the NHL teams. Entertaining hockey in their own right and offering non NHL players a chance to earn a living.
All-American Hockey League (1987-1988)
All-American Hockey League (1987-1988) was an eight team minor pro league that operated for just the 1987-88 season. Two of the franchises, Carolina & Virginia, joined from the defunct Atlantic Coast Hockey League and three of the franchises, Carolina, Johnstown & Virginia, went on to be founder members of the East Coast Hockey League.All American Hockey League (1987-1988) Franchises
