One of the early recognized professional hockey leagues in North America was the Manitoba Pro Hockey League of 1907. Another short lived league.
Alberta Professional Hockey League (1907-1908)
The Alberta Professional Hockey League was founded in 1907. It was a short lived professional league officially folding in 1910, but basically inactive in 1908 to 1910. The Edmonton team of the league challenged for the Stanley Cup in 1908 and 1909 seasons, losing to Montreal and Ottawa.
